“For Now/Now For” represents a continuation and intimate extension of Siahne Rogers’ previous work, "EVERYTHING MUST GO!” This sculptural piece further explores the relationship between language, temporality, and daily interactions.

The sculptural form of the work emulates the ubiquitous wind-spinner, a familiar signage device, symbolising the transient everyday moment of information. With hand-painted text either side, FOR and NOW, the artwork examines our tangible understanding of temporality and the ways we attempt to manage it. The expression "For Now" captures the essence of encountering the anxieties of the present—an uncontrollable, fleeting moment—while "Now For” reflects our efforts to impose structure, and create romanticised ideas of control over space-time and our sphere of influence.

Employing Chiasmus, a literary device from the Greek word meaning “crossing”, the piece mirrors both concepts in reverse order, emphasising the fluidity and playfulness of language and reveals how it shapes our perception of time and its elusive nature. Depending on when viewers first glance at the spinning text, their relationship to the phrases will vary, reinforcing the idea that our grasp on time and meaning is constantly in flux and the slippery nature of language and how it shapes these perspectives.

The artwork vividly illustrates the precariousness inherent in our pursuit of certainty. “For Now/Now For” encapsulates the need to define and manage temporal experiences, balanced with the realisation that our grasp on time remains ever-shifting and uncertain, before the wind changes, and everything is different again.
